Repaired or repaired correctly?
Most cars today do not have a frame. The structure is called a unibody. Any part that is welded on the chassis is a stressed element and is part of the structure. Incorrectly performed repairs such as clamping, straightening, welding, heating or sectioning can result in your vehicle not performing as designed in a second collision. If not repaired correctly, your car can be unsafe.
Have you seen crash tests on TV? Manufacturers have engineered vehicles to withstand these tests and to provide maximum occupant protection. You do not want to be the crash test dummy in a car that has had incomplete structural repairs.
Improper chassis repairs can affect drive-ability, tire wear, as well as structural performanee and timing of air bag deployment in a post repair collision. Just because your car looks good on the outside does not mean that it will work well under the skin.

After your car has been in an accident, there is no question that it is worth less than it was before the accident. Even if you are satisfied with the quality of the repair, you have suffered a financial loss. Think of it this way - if you were in the market for a used car, would you expect to pay the same money for a factory built vehicle, or one that has been repaired? Particularly when you do not know how hard it was hit or how well it was repaired.
Even a high quailty body shop is going to leave evidence of repairs that dealership used car managers are trained to find. And when they find it, you are going to be offered considerably less for it than a factory car. Most Certified Used Car Programs do not allow certification and extended warranty protection for vehicles with a damage history. Therefore it is not a car they are going to be interested in retailing on their lot.

In July 2007, I was involved in a serious auto accident. After declaring my car a total loss, the responsible insurance company made a financial offer that would not even cover the down payment on a comparable replacement vehicle. Using the information I obtained from “I Want My Car Totaled” website, I was able to increase the settlement offer by 13% and my rental car allowance by 56%. I WANT MY CAR TOTALED membership was well worth the investment.
